Unfortunately Proctor Myuller, one of her teachers (and one with an abnormally high body count) has now taken an interest in training her directly. Maryam, Yakoba's cellmate, is an uptight, quiet noble-born whose status– and the plots around her– precede her even here. And their friend Borte is, well... Borte.
In their own ways, these three girls are drawn into political machinations and generational drama far above and beyond the more mundane dangers of surviving to Novice Sister status.
