I first wrote this story in 2021 but I've revised it to improve character integrity and lore consistency, with several different plot points altogether (especially in the second and third parts). It's got everything you need - the intensity that will always come with Xiao's character, coupled with the happiness we wish for him, and a satisfying closure that is hard-earned.

After a moment of hesitation she ventured, “Do you…recognize me?”
Without turning he said, “Should I?”
“Well, I met you once…in the dream world.”

Flins is a Lantern Fae, the only one of his kind. Known as the Azure Flame, he is feared by both fae and humans. Stripped of his name and memories by the Tsar, he exists as little more than a weapon: a hunting hound bound to its master, a flame condemned to burn only where commanded. And he had to be careful not to have his identity as an ability user to be exposed. After all the Hero Commision had released information about ability users that painted them as evil manipulative villains. Atleast living with Tanizaki had made it much bearable for Kenji, but he could see how much Tanizaki had wanted to see his sister.

Vexen has joined the 'Real Organization 13' in order to assuage his own guilt by attempting to bring down their plans from the inside. However, Xemnas is already suspicious of those around him, especially Vexen, and has found a way to motivate him into following orders by abducting and threating the one he cares for most. The scientist is still eager to make amends but what can he do while Ienzo's life hangs in the balance?
Basically, I thought it was interesting that even though Even returns to the Organization, no one thought to kidnap Ienzo given his talents. He could be a very useful counter tool for Sora and a good hostage for Even. So I wrote a 'what if' fic about it. The tags make it seem darker than it is. It's really not that bad.
