Elphaba Thropp had grown up playing baseball with her brother Shell, so when the men of Oz get drafted to fight the rebels in the Unpassable Desert and the MLB puts on tryouts for a female-only league she jumps at the chance.
Galinda Upland does everything her parents tell her to - except for when she goes to baseball tryouts. Pleading with her parents to let her play, she promises she'll be a star. She would've been, except a green-skinned pitcher has taken the spotlight.
Put on the same roster, and then assigned to the same room - the girls end up loathing each other. Until they don't.

Elphaba jumped. Between the crevices of two trees in front of her; Elphaba found herself staring up into vibrant, enticing eyes that glimmered a gloomy pink. The owner of the voice slunk out of the shadows as soon as she noticed Elphaba had spotted her, smiled a sweet smile which formed a dimple in her cheek and tilted her head gently.
