Summary
After filming an on-location section for the season three episode “Three Bizarre Cases of Alien Abductions,” Ryan and Shane chase after a mysterious light in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, but just as they’re about to reach it, they fall unconscious.
Ryan wakes to find himself alone in a small prison cell with four glass walls. Shane is held captive in an adjacent cell that shares a wall with Ryan’s, and they can see each other, but cannot speak to each other or touch each other.
And neither of them are able to identify their captors.

He quickly navigated Goldsworth back onto streets he actually knew, then shut down the connection. If Goldsworth, right before he decided to end communication, had asked “So you think I’m pretty, huh?”, Shane would put in valiant effort to pretend he had never, ever heard it.
For a moment, he didn’t move. Just sat on his chair, staring at the blank monitors in front of him, shellshocked.
He was in trouble.

Ryan gave him a half-hearted smile. “It’s our one demon episode of the season, I’m a little nervous,” he admitted after a moment. “Especially since this location is supposed to be pretty active.”
“One second of the spirit box and all the ghouls’ll be outta there,” Shane said with a grin, and then sobered when the poke at his ghost hunting techniques didn’t get a rise out of his friend. “Are you really worried about this one?”
Ryan shrugged a little. “I brought holy water,” he replied, a non-answer that said plenty. “So we’re all good if anything shows up.”
“So where’s this place, anyway?” Shane asked.
“It’s a bookshop in Soho,” Ryan replied.

A tulpa, Ryan explains in the thoughtfully stressed voice he uses to info-dump, is a Tibetan concept where a thought or an object has been manifested through an intense focus of spiritual or mental energy.
The idea is simply that if enough people believe this house has the ability to swallow them whole then, unknowingly, they might have given life to the very concept itself.
