Unbeknownst to some, Rei is an incredible liar. It is not a skill he's proud of, but it has saved him a couple of times. If he can convince his captors that they have him under their thumb, then they will send him on missions around Wellston and at least then he can guarantee the safety of the people he loves.
He didn't mean to, but he slipped up when it came to John, he got a little too close to who he used to be. So sometimes he has to remember...he is not Rei, he is simply a number and a weapon to be used by EMBER.
Meanwhile, John is currently having lunch with his sister and his vigilante partner and is beginning to connect the dots.
