Following the aftermath of Cal's abrupt departure, Nate wrestles with how to take control of his life and contend with his future. Laurie won't let Rue forget what she owes her, while slowly, a string of dead men unravels in the surrounding LA area.
Takes place during the latter half of S2 of Euphoria, following the events of S2E4, "You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can". Loosely follows the timeline and general structure of the proceeding episodes, with the Criminal Minds cast and new plotpoints added for zest and verve. Also a fix-it fic of sorts because Sam Levinson did not make the best use of his airtime for plot.

The degree of ferocity he's unleashed over the years was terrifying to witness. Ferocity that ultimately stemmed from nothing more and nothing less than self-preservation.
Self-preservation? I guess it is a little more: self-deprecation. Nate hated Cal for a lot of different reasons. What he doesn't tell anyone is how much he hates himself. Hates himself because of Cal. Because Marsha Jacobs had been right in saying Nate Jacobs wasn't always this way. He had loved wholey, purely, and openly.
