“It’s been really rough for the Coach.
Three years ago, he was in a bit of a rut with the whole ‘villain job’ thing. At the time, seizing the moment and stealing that nerdy blonde kid’s stupid potato robot seemed like a good idea.
He’s changed his mind. It may just have been one of the dumbest moves he’s ever made in his life.”
~~~
The Coach tries to pick his life back up, but what if his relationship with others get in the way? Can he find a way to enjoy himself and take a break through all the mess?
Summary
Rexagon Pemdas (AKA Kid Math) is an 8.5-year-old alien from Planet Hexagon training under experienced superheroes WordGirl and Captain Huggyface. Struggling to adapt to Earth life and unable to maintain his secret identity for long, he bounces between foster families, faces down the supervillains who call Fair City home, and tries to make new human friends. Rex may be naïve, socially awkward, and totally convinced that Granny May has his best interests at heart, but he did bring snacks from outer space, so he’s got that going for him.
Becky Botsford (AKA WordGirl) is 11½ years old and exhausted for a lifetime. Balancing the burden of 6th grade homework, maintaining her secret identity, AND protecting the city isn’t easy, and now this? Overnight, she’s become responsible for the safety and training of a fellow alien superhero. She can’t take her eyes off Kid Math for a second without him getting mind controlled, leading evil boy genius Tobey to his spaceship hideout, or revealing his secret identity to one villain after the next. Honestly? Becky’s life would be so much easier if Rex would just… go away.
Summary
Mom's maiden name of "Tackett" sounds a lot more adventurous. It's got that nice snap to it. A good bite behind the teeth. It rings like the slam of a hand against a stapler. In fact, it's so crisp in the ear that Connor's played with the idea of discarding his own for it instead. Why not? Tackett's way more exciting than Read.
I noticed we were lacking in Captain Tangent ‘fics and I had some feelings™ about that, so I wrote one :’D
Part 2 in a self-inflicted character study speedrun challenge, featuring the thrilling twist of no dialogue whatsoever (Oh no).
