This is something Sakura knows she wants to pass for her team; she can persevere, can earn her title, do her part protecting the village, make Lady Tsunade proud for all the efforts she invested into her student over the years…
But, seeing her moon-lit reflection in the hitai-ate on Kakashi’s forehead, her friend and former sensei towering over her as she is strapped into the interrogation chair, Sakura’s old fears slither their way back in.
“So, Sakura…” Her eyes snap to his, hopeful. Pleading. Kakashi takes a small step forward on the stone floor, the sound of it sharp and echoing in the dim room, “shall we begin?”

"You’re so noisy and annoying,” Sasuke murmured, leaning forward to brush their lips together in a soft way. “I thought you were going to stand me up,” he admitted quietly, hands teasing just under the hem of Sasuke’s shirt.
Sasuke shivered slightly at the ghost of a touch, and rocked forward, pleased to find that Naruto’s body was, as usual, just as happy to see him as Naruto seemed to be. Sometimes, he knew, Naruto wore a brave face for the outside world. But never for Sasuke. In front of Sasuke, Naruto was always his raw, unfiltered, self. It made Sasuke feel as though being vulnerable in front of Naruto was all right. They were that way with each other, neither one more than the other. “Why would I stand you up?” he murmured, pleased with the way Naruto’s breath hitched.
“Because—because it’s Christmas and I thought you might not want to celebrate with me,” Naruto admitted, glancing away.
Sasuke pressed his nose into the crook of Naruto’s neck, inhaling the scent of him. “I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone but you,” Sasuke retorted, feeling safe with his face hidden so that Naruto couldn’t see the heaviness of that truth.
