“Your battleground awaits, my love.” Magnus says holding out his hand for Alexander to take before he steps through the portal and he exits first, using his magic to keep the portal open as he helps Alexander out, a warrior descending from his battle chariot.
His love is magnificent, a circlet of plum blossoms crowns his brow and the outline of a peony in full bloom across his face, the lines a soft peach that shimmer in the dying sun.
Alexander looks like a god of war, come to scatter petals for the dead and destroy whoever dares stand in his way.

Summary
Trust doesn't come easy and it can't be born from nothing. It's even harder to create trust from the barren and brittle ground of faithless words and broken promises.
Magnus' people have no reason to like shadowhunters, no reason to like Alec and even less of a reason to trust him, so they don't. But they do trust Magnus, and in the end, that's what makes the difference.

Calibri pauses, either for dramatic flair, or to let the information sink in. Magnus doesn’t really care either way, because — the future? “What? How?“
They wave their hand “Yes, disbelief, shock etc, can we skip to the part where you’ve processed all this and are ready for more?“
Magnus nods numbly. Sure. The future. Why not. This day really couldn’t get any more bizarre. First he finds Circle members doing business in his club, the audacity, then he bumps into Clary Fairchild of all people— all grown up now apparently, Lillith does time fly by when one’s immortal, then he gets kidnapped by some manic rainbow deity who wants him to watch the future.
He wants a drink. Maybe seven. Of the ‘so alcoholic your liver will fail just by looking at it‘ variety.‘
Or: I suck at summaries, so I basically just copypasted an outtake instead. Enjoy the Shadowhunters + (1) drunk Warlock watch the show fic that no one asked for.

Because contrary to what he’s believed since Robert runed him, Magnus is not and might never have been Alec’s last chance. He was Alec’s biggest and best chance; but his last chance is sitting before him, and has just given him the opening he has been praying for to a higher power he probably doesn’t believe in anymore.

He was probably the first Shadowhunter, after Jonathan to see an Angel and talk to him. Somehow, it didn't matter all that much to Alec, as he was already dead. However, it seemed that they weren't ready to let him go just yet.
