Plans are afoot. Dire, cruel, and absolute. The Lord Tachonis wishes your House gone.
An attack planned on the Palazzo. All courtiers, generals, scions to be murdered, their corpses claimed for legions of undead. No word on a timeline, of course. Primus Tachonis could be coming for them today, or tomorrow, or sometime next week.
So there was no time to waste. The scales of power are tilting in Dol-Makjar. If one Sundered House has to tumble from them to even out the balance...well, so be it.
That House will not be Aranessa's own.

Thaisha’s never heard of anyone growing a flower based off of a half second’s glimpse of dried petals and drinking a cup of tea, but it doesn’t feel like it should be an impossible task. She had experienced the flower after all, just not in the usual way.
Thaisha closes her eyes, focusing on the reddish-pink hue of the petals, on the tartness that still rests on her tongue and her memory. She feels something stir, not only in her cupped hands, but low in her gut and high in her mind, unfamiliar but not unpleasant. The first thing she sees when she opens her eyes is the trumpet shaped flower that’s bloomed in her hands, red petals wide and ruffled.
The first thing she hears is something that sounds like a sob.
“Do you know what you’ve done?”

Occtis is still holding his head up high, but now that they’re in better lighting, Julien realizes he looks a bit unsteady. Nonetheless, the boy's voice is steadfast. “I have some work I need to get done this evening. If you want to stay in this stupid room while that happens, I can’t stop you, but I expect you to be polite about it.”
Deciding the unsteadiness is only to be expected, Julien tries to muddle past it. “What kind of work?”
Occtis’s jaw goes tight. “I… have to start making some adjustments, or else I won’t ‘heal’ properly. Is that going to be a problem for you?”
Julien doesn’t know what he’s supposed to respond to that, so he defaults to setting some parameters. “There’s a sorry excuse for a curtain that you may use as a partition if you desire. I’ll take this bed; that side of the room is all yours to do as you see fit.”
Occtis just stares at him. “You’re… fine with this?”
Julien rolls his eyes. “Yes. I am extremely fucking fine with everything that is happening. Everything is extremely fucking great with me.” He flops down on the nearer of the two beds. “Do what you must.”
“Thank you for being so kind.”
Julien’s eye twitches.
