After a while it was settled that he would be kept with the animals in a makeshift jail. As all the girls went back to their huts, Shauna watched as Mari walked by herself into the woods. She walked behind Tai and Van who were currently looking after Grayson, Shauna place a hand over Tai’s arm as she spoke. “Can you look after him for a bit, I'm gonna go check on Mari?”
“Yeah sure.” Tai answered and Shauna left her baby in the care of his godmother and Van.
She followed Mari deep into the woods, trailing far enough behind that Mari couldn’t hear her steps, but close enough that she never lost sight of her. Mari moved slow, limping along the way and taking breaks every now and again, after a little less than an hour she stopped in front of a tree. She took out a piece of paper out of her back pocket and looked and it then the tree then back at the paper again before putting in back in her pocket, she starting peeling the bark off the tree and that is when Shauna decided to finally step into the light.
