Summary
A world in which you, the reader, are maybe a human? Who knows. You've been alive since like 900 bc. You find your carefully maintained routine (for your safety and secrecy) cracked in half by an android.
Started as a self indulgence thing and spiraled into something I care about. Will probably pick this back up next time I pick tng up again.
Updating for shitty writing in 2023. Might even tack on a few more chapters, I've been rewatching TNG. -

A collection of one-shots designed to be Data/Reader, just note I can't stand 'Y/N' so I've created an original character that is genderless (Lieutenant Carlsson) which you can use to substitute yourself. I really hope you enjoy, I got into this show in September and it has changed my life. Thank you for reading!

"To comfort a crewman who was clearly dying," said Doctor Pulaski. "Of course, you could frame that as simply the rational output of your ethical programming. Or you emulating sociocultural scripts appropriate to the situation. But I wonder if you're asking me because you want to know whether I think there was something more to it."

“Are you alright?” you asked concernedly, bringing your hand up and letting it rest in the center of his back.
“I am fine,” he replied. His tone was soft and reassuring, but he did not yet break his gaze off into the distance. After a moment, he turned to you and in the dim light and you were able to find his eyes. “I believe I have had a dream.”Series

Summary
Long ago, you woke up with one hundred other people all at once in a facility on a volatile planet called Mendolo 3. None of the survivors nor you had any memories of your former lives. Time goes on though, the other survivors have all found their own place in life.
And maybe you have to. You get to go onto the USS Enterprise to study the android named Data, and you may even get to prove your life's work. Your hypothesis? That Data has a nervous system and if he does, that might shed some light on what types of feelings he has however muted they may be, if any that is.
Life seems to finally start going in a direction that you quite like… you've made wonderful new friends and meeting Data and being his friend is like a dream. That is until the assassination attempts start. And things only tailspin from there. And when you finally find out what you truly are, you find you might lose everything you've come to love for it.

Summary
Data entered his room as he had over a thousand times before. He stepped in, making sure Spot was not by the door waiting to rush out and scamper down the hallways, and- He stopped in the middle of the room, hardly two steps in the door. Something was different. The lights were dimmed.
Data only changed the light setting in his room during Alpha shift, a ship-wide nighttime when he was usually put in charge of the Bridge, as he did not require sleep like the others. By doing so, he simulated a day/night cycle for his beloved feline friend. However, Alpha shift would not start until approximately 2 hours, 37 minutes, and 15 seconds. Also unusual, the lights were dimmed to 20%, a setting he himself never used.
Now the question was why?
