    Summary

    The second half of Deadly Relations told you part of the story. The Shadow Within told you part of the story. The Passing of the Technomages told you part of the story. Phoenix Rising told you part of the story. And part of the story was missing entirely.

    Here is the ENTIRE story about what Bester, Byron, Donne and even Morden were doing in 2256, about a year before the show began - everything in one place and explained, with nothing omitted.

    * What Bester did in the Earth-Minbari War
    * Donne's backstory
    * What Morden was up to before the Shadows got him
    * Captain Hidalgo's backstory
    * What really happened between Bester and Byron

    JMS definitely does not want you to read this book.

    This work is rated M for mature/dark themes, grittiness, language, and because lots of characters die (but given the subject matter you probably knew that). No canon characters die in this work unless they also die here in canon (e.g. on the Icarus).

    This work contains no smut or sexual interactions between characters, and the depictions of violence are no more graphic than in canon. There is mild nudity.

    (I cannot stop the kudos bots.)

    Summary

    Oh look, there's another missing novel!

    Ms. Donne is a Psi Cop who worked closely with Bester. She appears in the Deadly Relations and The Shadow Within. In the former work, she assists Bester in his efforts to thwart Shadow control of the Corps and EarthGov - but her role in these efforts, like most of Bester's, is omitted. The writers will give the Corps credit for nothing.

    In the second work, Donne is treated worse - she's a one-dimensional "villain" whose "evil plot" as given isn't evil, so they have to hide her true intentions and omit key information from the book until immediately after the world's biggest Kick The Dog - otherwise readers would quickly realize the Strawman Has A Point and the premise only "makes sense" because the writers do not consider telepaths to be actual people (who deserve not to be murdered). Since she has no actual villainous role in the story (and never did), they make crap up about her.

    I'm fixing her story, both before and during the Icarus expedition.

    Summary

    The Shadow Within is a Babylon 5 novel written by Jeanne Cavelos (who also wrote the Technomage Trilogy). It covers the ill-fated (and equally ill-named) "Icarus Expedition." Originally billed as Babylon 5 novel #7, it was later marketed as the prequel to the Technomage Trilogy because it tells the story of Anna Sheridan going to Z'Ha'Dum - and the Technomage Trilogy, while claiming to be about "technomages," really just uses them as an angle to tell Anna Sheridan's story after her arrival on Z'Ha'Dum.

    Here I discuss the "prequel" novel's treatment of telepaths.

    Edit: My rants have been cut out. I get to the point a lot faster now.
