Top 1 weirdass fics of all time.
Not as bad as the tags imply. Anyone reading this who's read the story will be, uh, perhaps side eyeing me at that, but understand that while a lot of fucked up shit happens, I was expecting it to be a lot more... Evil? It's not as edgy-amoral-boring-mass-murder-"Ruby is betrayed and turns evil" as it sounds, which is great if, like me, you LOVE the fucked up dark edgy shit, but don't generally like outright villain protagonist type stuff.
ANYWAYS, fuck talking about all that nonsense, the obvious highlight here should be how utterly SURREAL this fic is. Every character has a seemingly completely random set of changes applied to them, their personalities, and their backstories that make no sense, and the setting is barely recognisable as RWBY. And yet it somehow doesn't register as an original story dressed up as a fanfic - as you occasionally get - to me. And of course, the plot goes every direction but straight, almost every character is DEEPLY insane with utterly nonsensical but fascinating mindsets, the story's tone is often straight up self-contradicting, and the writing style, GOD the writing style. Constantly shifting, highly experimental, just genuinely absurd and often difficult to interpret, all in the BEST way possible and INCREDIBLY artfully crafted (not to say it's exactly high brow or super artistic - most of the style changes occur for little reason, or even as jokes, but just that it's always incredibly well done. I mean, does the story really NEED a super deep reason to abruptly interrupt a fight scene with scripture excerpts??)
Also, featuring some of the funniest fucking moments I've ever had the pleasure of reading in a story. Won't spoil any, but holy shit.
In other words, exactly what you'd expect from this author. I really need to read more of their stuff.
