Summary
'“Izzy, you’re being a downer. You need a hit of horn.” Ed’s tone falls dangerously flat, as if it’s a statement, not a question.
“No thank you, Edward. I’m just tired.” Izzy trembles. “Not as young as I used to be…”
Ed swipes his finger through a line of rhino dust and saunters back to Izzy. “All the more reason to have a hit.” He circles Izzy languidly, finger held out in mock invitation. “It’ll perk you back up in a jiffy.”
He stops circling in front of Izzy, eyes blown wide and dark. “Open your mouth, dog.” It’s not a suggestion.'

'Somebody chose to cover Frenchie’s eyes instead of his ears, and ever since he’s wondered: is seeing a thing worse than hearing it?'

Or, Frenchie eavesdrops outside of the Captain's cabin, and ends up adding another image to the box at the back of his mind.

Summary
At least there’s a part of him down there with Lucius, keeping him company. The other part, is lying with the rest of the old crew, as still as they are. He wonders if he’ll keep fragmenting until there’s absolutely nothing of him here, now. Good. If he isn’t there at all, Blackbeard can’t hurt him. It’s quite a solid plan.
Glimpses of life aboard The Revenge from Frenchie’s POV.

“Older guy, grumpy, grey hair, kinda hot-” Lucius lists off before Frenchie interrupts him.
“Yes! He said his name was Izzy.”

Summary
“What’s this?” Frenchie holds the crude and yet perfect rag-doll out to Wee John. Blushing, he takes it in both hands and caresses the curly brown hair, the buttons.
“Well… I remembered you telling me ‘bout voodoo. And so I thought I could make a backwards one —“
“A ‘woohoo!’ doll?” Frenchie offers weakly.
“Exactly.”

or, Frenchie finds the doll version of him Wee John made whilst they were apart, and gets to thinking about toys and how love changes them.

Summary
“He’s not dead. Izzy is alive, and the barrel of his pistol is smoking, pointed at where Blackbeard has just been. Frenchie nearly falls to his knees at the sight. He’s half-dead, one leg gone, bleeding gash on his face, leaning on rigging for support, but his shot is impossibly true. In between the lighting strikes, he’s the most wonderful thing Frenchie has ever seen. Izzy is like some beautiful, terrifying avenging angel, dripping with rain and blood. Frenchie knows, seeing him now.
Frenchie knows he’s in love with Izzy.”
