Summary
He doesn't even know how long it's been, not really.
Feels like months. Feels like fucking years. But there's no way to keep track, nothing that stays, nothing that sticks, except him and Brody.

Summary
He got up. He went and fished another beer out of the fridge for himself, a second for Brody, and he snagged a fresh bag of chips, too: a wordless signal that he wasn't planning to kick Brody out no matter what answer Brody gave him, though god knew whether Brody would take it that way.
And then he came back to the sofa and dropped the chips on the coffee table, and Brody said, "Oh, sick! I love this kind," as he lunged for the bag like the feral raccoon he was.
"You're welcome," David said pointedly, as he cracked Brody's beer open, slid it sideways across the table toward Brody and then cracked his own. He took a sip. And then he drew a slow breath, forced his shoulders to relax, and he turned toward Brody and added calmly, "So, listen, do you want to fuck me?"

Summary
Brody interrupts him with a curse, a quiet plea clearly directed somewhere other than the mic on the phone, no, no, it's okay, come on, don't—
And then, in the background, clear as a bell, there's a noise of wordless discomfort, an indrawn breath, and the first uncertain cries of a really, really unhappy baby.
David stares at the wall of his apartment without seeing it, heart in his throat.
What the fuck.
"Is that a baby?" he hears himself say.

Summary
His phone buzzed.
Saved by the bell. He reached for it, where it had been lying facedown on the corner of his desk, and flipped it over, thumbed the screen. It was either an alarm he'd forgotten about, or yet another freaking text from Brody—
The screen lit up. It took him a second to understand what he was looking at, what he was seeing. And then he froze, and abruptly every inch of his body was on red alert.

David draws a quick breath, and risks a peek around the corner.
Three guys.
Not bad. He can take three guys. Especially three guys who don't know he's coming.

Summary
There's something about the thought of Brody and Some Guy that curdles itself up in David's gut, sour.
He tries not to dwell on it. He tries not to think about it at all.
But he starts to have a lot more trouble not looking at those tabloid headlines, not checking for more pictures of Brody.
And then he starts not liking that Brody's dating Some Guy for a totally different reason.

Brody tries to make sure David's having the optimal fuckbuddy experience. Except it turns out David may have been doing the same thing for him, and maybe they'd both like to try something a little different.

The thing about Brody is that he’s just so damn bright all the time.

Summary
It's a habit, now.
Weird one, yeah. Brody can admit that. But whatever. He's probably not going to be able to break it anytime soon, and at this point it's gotten so whenever he's hanging around the set, in between takes or waiting for a piece of equipment to get moved, he just—goes right for his phone.

Summary
The thing is, Brody doesn't actually mind all that much that David won't call him back. Because he's pretty sure he can get himself sent to New York to shadow David again, if he tells everybody that's what it'll take to make a success out of Gridlocked 2.
It's all part of his plan. Except for the thing where David seems to have a plan, too—and apparently also a pretty specific role in mind for Brody to play when they need to meet a CI in this one particular club.

Summary
David hadn't really figured he'd see the kid again, after. Which was good, because he was kind of messed up about stuff, and something about the thought of having Brody around seemed sort of dangerous.
(In retrospect, he should've realized there was no way he'd get lucky enough to avoid dealing with this shit forever.)
