Summary
Amestris is threatened by invasion from without and political turmoil from within. Although Mustang has been working for reform, his painstaking efforts are called into question by a faction calling for war crimes trials. More worryingly, there are signs that Grumman's government is repeating the old regime's mistakes--mistakes that Mustang may be the wrong person to call into question.

“Where is he?” Envy demanded furiously, unsure who they were asking after. The clarification— Scar or Marcoh —didn’t seem important to Envy, and Mustang didn’t seem to need it, either, as the answers were one and the same.
“Long gone,” he said, with another huff of laughter.
Envy wasted no time before grabbing a fistful of his hair and slamming his head into the wall. It didn’t knock Mustang out, but it was a close thing. The alchemist’s expression twisted with pain, but he was still stubbornly smiling.
“You will wish,” Envy spat, “that you had gone with them.”
Or the one where our heroes persist despite seemingly impossible odds, and begin to set some things in motion. In for a penny, in for a pound. Unfortunately, the villains have a new player of their own.
