Summary
I don't think there are really any in-game consequences for killing the Guide. This is my attempt to make it more realistic. The player character isn't really a hero. They do some pretty bad things during the game. Killing the Guide is probably one of the worst ones. I see the game as a fight between the bosses and other enemies and the player. The bosses are bad, but the player isn't much better. The NPCs are just stuck in the middle.
Thanks to RosieAzrael and eatpraylove for betaing.

Summary
I could have been Jeff, Dustin, Logan, and it wouldn't have mattered to this soul who looked far from the savior of Terraria when I first found them. No, all the Hero was concerned about was who I was – who I was to them, who I could be to them, who I would be for them. The Hero was the Hero. I was only the Guide.

This is one of my favorite fics of all time. It's one of the most beautiful and depressing things I've ever read, the levels of angst are through the roof. I can't bring myself to reread it since the feels are too strong.
The characterization is on point, you feel the Guide's pride that the Player is growing so strong over time but also his sharp pang of hurt as the Player starts to neglect him more. Even though a lot of people dislike him, the Guide has always been my favorite character because he's so mysterious and his role is so tragic/critical to the plot.
The fact that players usually dislike him comes to play as well, as the Player is an absolute ass to him most of the time. They have a complicated relationship, the Player has this sense of superiority that players irl usually have since they're not an NPC, so the Guide is especially annoying to them because he represents how the Player used to be weak. The Guide's use is limited as the Player will eventually outgrow him. At the same time, part of the player still cares about the Guide since he's been with them since the very beginning.
The Guide is aware that the player barely appreciates him but continues to love them anyway. The reader is aware that the Player is being a piece of shit but since it's from the Guide's PoV, you can still tell that they're meant for great things. The Guide's a lot deeper than he lets on to the Player and other NPCs but he puts on a friendly, unbothered front since it's his role as a guide, a role he never wanted anyways. Overall, good representation of how prophecies can really suck.
Please read this, it'll make you bawl but I promise it'll be one of the best things you'll ever read. Terraria fics are really hard to pull off since the lore is so cryptic and everything, and a lot of the narrative is through battling and exploring.

Summary
Garrett was a simple man who lived a simple life: defend his cottage, forage for food, sleep; the works. When a stranger gets attacked by a king slime, he finds that the guest is looking for his friends. Determined to help the lad he saved, he offers to help him find those he traversed with.
But the man with the bow soon learns it won't be so simple, especially when he's not the only sod who just so happens to find this out.

This is a story based on my in-game experiences, both on my own and with friends. Gradually, I will incorporate ideas from my own imagination, usually things I had in mind while I was playing.
