Crossover between Inception and 3rd Rock from the Sun. Probably you have to have watched 3rd Rock at least once or twice for this to make sense, but who hasn't? Inception is definitely required viewing, though. Ha.
I should also warn that I could have chosen Inception-goes-to-the-doofy-sitcom-place, but in fact I went the other way on that. I know. It surprised me too.

Historical AU. Eames is an RAF pilot shot down in German-occupied France during World War II; Arthur is the French resistance fighter who finds him. There is a happy ending.

Wow but this is amazing. Eames is an RAF pilot in WWII who is shot down on a bombing run/reconnaissance in Nazi occupied France and is found by Arthur, who is a French Resistance member. Much of the story is about Eames' recovery from the injures he got in the plane crash. Arthur's story of how he, an American, ended up part of the French resistance is heartbreaking, as is what happens later during a mission.
The emotions in this story are so well done. The author paints a very realistic portrait of two gay lovers in occupied France during the forties. There is a scene in here, without giving too many details, in which both Arthur and Eames are desperate to reassure themselves that the other is there and alive, but can't because they are surrounded by people and in the 1940s being gay was a jailable offense. These two go through so much. I'm so glad the author promised a happy ending up front or I might have passed on this little gem. Considering the setting this could have destroyed my heart. The promise that everything would work out was especially a balm during a certain part of the story where I was biting my nails and sniffling back tears. Totally recommend this one.

A/N: I really wanted this fic to have things like character development and All the Feelings, and. No. No, that is not what happened. I'm afraid this is 21,000 words about what an utter cockslut Arthur is. Sorry about that.
Also, Eames has an apadravya piercing. If that's going to squick you, back-button now or forever hold your peace.
