A podfic of "8. Coughing up a lung" by two_am_fic
This was always the worst part, and Lovelace couldn’t even pace.
She’d been here before. She’d been here before, shut outside the lab while inside, someone coughed themselves to death, supposedly tended by the person killing them. -

"Actually, tell me one thing before I go. How come you – he – got spaced, instead of toasted with the station?”
“Because I saved the world.”
“I don't believe you.”
Kepler’s face falls. Clearly he hadn’t counted on that. He opens his mouth to speak again, but Jacobi cuts him off.
“No. You don’t get to show up here and pretend that everything is fine. Like – like it changes anything.”Kepler comes back from the dead. Jacobi has very complicated feelings about it.

Summary
“It’s part and parcel of the deal that there will be no distractions. Nothing that’s more important. Than the job.”
“Wait, is this about –”
“Yes, Mr Jacobi. It is. I chose the job, and Goddard isn’t in the habit of giving anything back once it’s theirs. There is no Warren Kepler apart from Major Warren Kepler of the SI-5.”
Jacobi swallows. “With all due respect, sir, I think that's a load of crap.”Of inappropriate relations with one’s superior officer, and the consequences thereof. And what the hell is Kepler’s deal? With everything?!

“Commander Minkowski,” he starts, half an octave deeper than his normal speaking voice. “What time do you call this?”
Renée’s eyes roll to the ceiling, but Doug catches the flicker of a smile. “Never change, Doug.”

Reintegrating into civilian life on Earth is a path that's more pothole than paved road, but you can at least choose where you stop along the way. For the former crew of the Hephaestus, the place to stop on a Friday night is Doug Eiffel's apartment. The price of admission: one (1) work of pop culture that he absolutely must know.

Summary
Victoire didn’t want to figure out how to get home; she didn’t want to fight with Lovelace or have it out with Selberg. She didn’t want to have to think about Goddard or the bodies in the lab. She wanted to rest, and the only way that would happen would be if everyone somehow forgot she was here. Or if she died, which it seemed she likely would.
Or.
Something tickled at the back of Victoire’s brain. It wasn’t fair to call it an idea, not really. It was barely an inkling. Barely so much as a light. But it was something, and Victoire couldn’t shake the roots of it as they sank in.
What if she was dead?
(The Victoire Fourier Lives AU literally no one asked for!)

“This sounds like a bad fan fiction plot. He’s gonna, like, ask you to suck his dick or something.”
Jacobi laughed, “If that’s all I gotta do, then by God, I’ll do it.”
Or: Jacobi's desperate for a good grade, Kepler's playing mind games, and Eiffel has a crush.
