It’s a normal day at work, to begin with. The usual stream of hypochondriacs, overreacting parents, and people who should have known better than to shove that up their ass, Goddammit, interspersed with real emergencies. Charlotte’s run off her feet as always, and she always leaves her cell in her locker, so the first she hears of it is when she’s called over to the main desk by one of the nurses.
Trina’s just finished folding laundry when her cell rings. It’s been a normal Thursday so far: she’s dropped Jason at school, spent the rest of the morning volunteering at the local Goodwill, met some friends for lunch, and started on some chores at home. She looks at her screen and is surprised to see Marvin’s name flashing there.
