“Did you try to wake the Wind Fish?” Link asks finally.
Marin turns away, staring down at the ocean below. “Yeah,” she says. “I know. It’s stupid. Only the Sirens’ Instruments will work. I just…”
She sighs. “I don’t know. I’ve just always wanted to leave. I figured it was worth a try.”
Link rescues Marin at the top of Tal Tal Heights.

Summary
Zelda had a lot of scars.
She didn’t, however, have a lot of injuries. No; these scars belonged to someone else. To her soulmate.
She often wondered how her soulmate got hurt all the time. What could another eight-year old possibly be doing to have all these scrapes and bruises? Zelda never got her own scrapes or bruises! She used to, when she was much younger and would play with the other kids in the courtyard. But when she turned seven, her father had told her that running about and screaming was unladylike and unbecoming of a princess.
So, Zelda never got her own bruises or scrapes anymore. She didn’t mind-- they hurt a bit, and her soulmate had plenty for the two of them. Her parents minded though. She was made to wear dresses with long sleeves and skirts that trailed on the floor during even the hottest days of the summer. She was told that these scars weren’t ladylike or becoming of a princess, either.
Zelda decided that she didn’t want to be ladylike or a princess much longer. -

Summary
He doesn’t think people want to hear that the only change he noticed right after he was declared the Hero of Legend was a kind of settling inside him, like maybe he’d been waiting for the sword without realizing it, but now that he’s got it, he just feels fine.
He doesn’t think the Chosen Hero is supposed to feel “fine”.
Then again, he doesn’t think the Goddess-Blooded Princess is supposed to feel like a consummate failure with the weight of the world on her shoulders and next to no support from anyone around her, so maybe these expectations are nonsense and Link should see if swinging the Master Sword around would convince people to just lay off.
(He doubts it would.)
or
What does it feel like to be a Chosen Hero? Link's here to tell you, "probably not what you're expecting."

Summary
(This series is inspired by a post by amaranthinepoetry on Tumblr)
Zelda was raised as a Gerudo, the daughter of the chief. It's all she's ever known: the desert, safety from sandstorms and monsters within the walls of Gerudo Town, the town only for vai- with the exception of a voe named Ganondorf, a bit older than herself- and only populated by Gerudo. She's never even considered the idea that she herself is not a Gerudo.
All of this shatters like glass when she meets Link- a Hylian, not vai or voe, raised as a Rito, who Zelda rescues from a sandstorm.
Because this young Hylian has something which Zelda recognizes on their back. A sword in a violet sheath with the Triforce on it, specifically. The legendary Master Sword.
Why does she recognize it?Series

Summary
Link dies, then he wakes up 100 years later with no memory. When Link dies, he is the bodyguard of Princess Zelda, wielder of the Master Sword, Knight of the Kingdom, and the fallen hero who failed in his duty. When he wakes, he is nothing like that. He is no one with nothing to his name, not even memories, his name is the sole thing he has. Well, there is the weird spirit that follows him around that no one can see. Then again, you wouldn't really want to count said spirit when all they do is yell at you for "wasting time" exploring this vast world, finding koroks, cooking, and helping people. Ruin's still good company for all his buzzkill tendencies, though.
OR
Link is both a jaded spirit of a fallen knight and the amnesiac, wandering swordsman. Yes, at the same time. Honestly Ruin just wants to wring Wild's reckless neck half the time. Wild just wants Ruin to stop being so grumpy. -
