Orel's eyes burned as his father yelled at him, his ire growing. It hurt, pain in his throat as he tried his best just to take it, but... It was too overwhelming, nauseating, and too loud in his mind. The urge to cry was astounding, but if he cried, his father would yell at him for that!
It didn't make a difference right now, did it?
Orel felt his tears threaten to escape his eyes, the fire of them pushing him up to stand, to look at his father in the eye, and to scream, "It's because you become a bad person when you drink!"
"Oh. Oh. I do, do I?" Orel flinched as his father threw the broken bottles to the ground. Glass shimmered in the moonlight as it broke into hundreds of stars on the rocky ground. He wasn't shocked at all, however, when his father stood and started to take off his belt, fingers clumsy but sure.
"Well, we'll see about that!"
