Now there’s Daniil, real and tangible; shipped himself to the town from the Capital because Artemy asked him to, and Artemy still feels something he can’t quite describe about it. He doesn’t know how long this will last, how long he will stay, and the dread of it keeps intruding into his brain like a migraine that won’t go away. Daniil only arrived yesterday, and they haven’t discussed how much he’ll be hanging around.

Water is like blood. It flows within the earth and escapes through her wounds, spilling in rivers. The essence of life, the thread that binds an udurgh; it all ends in the ocean. Artemy has seen the ocean once, which is more than nearly everyone who lives in the Town-on-Gorkhon. The waves were black and freezing and roared like his pulse in his ears, and he fell asleep in the sand. Murky dreams of the ocean, at night in the Silent House.
The Tower has fallen. The Town suffers a sea-change. Artemy wonders what it all means; Sticky wonders what comes next; Murky wonders what she’ll become. Closure is never complete, and it is a harsh winter. -

Behind his voice, Artemy can hear the chatter of a newly healthy, newly cured town. Dankovsky lowers himself from where he’s standing on the edge of the train. One of his legs brushes Artemy’s side as he sits back, and then — pulls away.
“You must be relieved,” Artemy says. “Finally going back to your Capital.”
Dankovsky scoffs. “I suppose so. Are you?”
“That’s a stupid question,” Artemy says.

Summary
Artemy invites the other healers over for dinner when the days get colder and shorter. Winter is coming, and a warm meal would be good for both of them. The Bachelor looks like he barely eats these days, and Artemy doesn’t know if Clara truly has a home or someone to cook her warm meals.
He finds the Bachelor in the Broken Heart, halfway through what seems to be his second or third glass of whiskey.
He finds Clara near the top of the stairway to heaven in the Gut, her legs dangling off the edge of the landing.

After the Polyhedron is destroyed, Artemy and the other healers live with the fallout, and try to become friends along the way. -

Artemy is pulling out blankets, blankets neither he nor his father had touched in years, too precious by far to be used for such banalities like sleeping. Especially when Artemy was the one sleeping -- that was hardly something to be enjoyed, much more an act of maintenance, like keeping a machine oiled.
Sprays of cloth flowers and herbs emerge from the small linen closet, just the same as he could remember it, the bigger quilt stuffed with wool, the wedding quilt from his mother. It was the only thing he knew of her, tangibly, the delicate stitches and hems he's sure even Daniil can feel the love pouring through.-
Daniil and Artemy try to get some rest in what is now their home.
