This Christmas in particular finds Mulder and Scully having drawn the short straw about being away from home because of a very special chapter of life called 'multi-day team-building seminar.' They hold their tongues about it because the agency has put them up in some very nice hotel, and the heavens have even smiled at out heroes in particular about their accommodations. But things rarely happen without some kind of a hitch for the agents. Now this particular Christmas is no exception, especially when the weather is factored in... and the multi-hour drive is no longer safe. Now it's all about staying put while making the most of it. Although... How tremendously difficult can that be when you're with your best friend?

This rings true of her this year when she realizes that Mulder is undoubtedly of the variety to spend the holidays alone. Her original plan was to invite him over for Thanksgiving. But the universe wouldn't have it. So she pounces upon the realization that the stars are aligning to make things right for Christmas. And she won't miss a moment. Especially when it means having both of her daughters and her newest son over for dinner on Christmas night. Each eagerly accepts her invitation. And for all, it will be a Christmas to remember.

The seemingly-insurmountable task of testifying for a traumatizing case in another part of the country now behind them, both Mulder and Scully are faced with a different seemingly-impossible task. Returning home in one piece. However… They only really get as far as the airport with life itself throws more than one wrench in their plan. But not all who wander are lost. When a different kind of way home is offered to Mulder and Scully, they take it without hesitation. It beats being stuck in an airport with no end in sight. And as they say, “Half the fun is getting there.” Especially when the beginning of the journey is on Christmas Eve.
