October was hard. Eddie actually hated it. Every year it was the same terror around every corner. Eddie was positive that unlike any normal town, Derry’s obsession with clowns was unique. It was as if the lingering magic of It’s reign of terror still mystified Derry. Eddie wasn’t even sure that fear was an appropriate word. This was a terror; it was every single memory of that summer flooding to the surface. The house, the sewers, the television programs, the long nights where he lay awake unable to sleep. It was the following weeks, where sharp laughter was daunting. And Stan didn’t leave his house. And Richie’s jokes fell flat, and Eddie didn’t walk anywhere alone.

Richie Tozier was no stranger to jokes. He cracked them frequently, even at very inappropriate times -like killer clown trying to murder us inappropriate times-.
Richie had times where he didn't feel like joking though, he just wanted to stop his brain from firing off every second, but he felt like it never stopped. Even if he could get it to stop, who would he be without his corny, borderline offensive jokes? Nobody. Ben was caring, Bev was cool, Bill was brave, Stan was responsible, Mike was kind, Eddie was protective. Richie though... Richie only had his jokes, otherwise he wasn't anything valuable.
He also tried to like girls, he really did... instead Richie's more-than-friends feelings drifted towards more forbidden territory. Territory he would hope to never face... even if it killed him.
