This is the story of the construction of the second Death Star, featuring Krennic, Dedra Meero, Kleya Marki, and exactly what the Bothans discovered, and when.

They do not return to the Rebellion. They abscond, hoping so desperately to find some freedom and peace away from the war that is now raging across the galaxy. Even with Krennic, the man who took her family and everything from her still alive, Jyn Erso sees no need to return to the fight. She was promised freedom and she got just that.
Three years later, that peace or any peace that they had so desperately wanted and sought out vanishes. There are whispers from the Bothans, whispers that something terrible is about to be recreated. And the Rebellion that they had so desperately wanted to get away from is demanding one last mission of them.

By the fifth time she’d heard that name, the shape of it had settled in the back of Jyn’s mind, in the pit of her stomach. The rebels said it like it was sacred, a thing to be careful with, even in these safe halls. It made her wonder just how sacred the name was to Cassian.
OR: The future Jyn imagined when she was dying on Scarif's beach changes shape when she survives and learns everything Cassian had waiting for him back home.
