AU. When Carla Connor is released from prison, her new living situation turns dangerous. Desperate, she reaches out to Betsy Swain, an old fellow inmate at Norcross. Standing in the way of salvation is Betsy's mother, Lisa, a former detective who retired on medical grounds and is not impressed by Carla's appearance in their lives.
Slow burn.
Carla's life is mostly canon up until her psychosis, but the Swains I have moulded to fit into this AU timeline

Help to make ends meet and not further break her daughter's heart by having to insist on a house move away from the only home she had ever known, the one which contained all the memories of her late mum, Becky. The same Becky who was the reason Lisa was up to her eyeballs in debt, having forged Lisa's signature and borrowed significant amounts of money against the house before her death. In desperation, Lisa advertises the spare room to rent out, a last ditch attempt to avoid what seemed inevitable.
When Carla places a call to enquire about the room, could it mark the beginning of something both of them never knew they needed?

Summary
Dating back to when Carla and Lisa first met, we follow their relationship from enemies, to friends, to lovers through their journal entries. (There is brief Carla/Peter, as it starts during the Stephen Reid storyline but as we know, DS Swain soon dispatches him!). Trying something a bit different to my usual style.

Summary
This idea has been in my head for ages and I've finally got round to starting to write it. Not an original story but my version of Carla and Lisa getting together. Some scenes/lines will mirror the show, others won't. I'm not planning on bring Becky back from the dead, but she will be mentioned.
The aim is for it to be updated weekly.

A series of drabbles, very fluffy with a smidge of angst (flungst...) loosely linked to the things the collective Connor-Swains do, and how they grow together as a family and heal.
