He’s not nice. That’s the main thing Kevin realises about himself under the hot, beating heat of the Ugandan sun and the cramped quarters of the mission hut – he isn’t a good person. He’d pretended to be before, because he’d had to. The scripture calls for all of Heavenly Father’s children to be disciples of His beliefs, to be kind, to be selfless, to be willing. And in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that means everybody was the same overly people-pleasing lobotomized zombie.
Kevin had been that person, because they all were. He has it memorised. "And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive."

After the missionaries are excommunicated, he has a lot of feelings and problems to think about, and Connor isn't helping. He begins to feel lost again and starts to run away from the man that he used to be.
His fears are relentless and everyone seems to be happy and content. Except for him. Nothing is ever enough for the great Kevin Price.
