Despite the mildew floating in the stagnant air, it was nice to take a break once in a while. Lazarus hated the trickling of the streams and the sounds of the monsters in the rooms beyond. but he could stand it, he was tough enough to ignore how irritating every little sound was. how each drop of water hitting a surface made him want to scream. How every skitter and stumble from the outer rooms made his skin crawl. He just hoped this pretending would keep it from rubbing off on Samson.
Laz gets pissy and argues with Samson which causes him to go berserk which ends really awkwardly, how festive!

The words echoed in his head, making it ache each time it hit another wall. He always got the late night jobs, at this point he was convinced they gave him night jobs on purpose. Maybe Eve was right, maybe he wasn’t patient enough to be a medical worker. He only took the job because they said they needed someone who was stoic and strong. And obligations are obligations. Soon he reached the door, it seemed to be sealed from the amount of time it had spent closed. He carefully turned the handle and it almost popped out of place, it whispered eerily as it opened like a cry of joy. Sat upon the sheet-less, stained mattress in the middle of the room was a thin, sickly figure. Samson dropped his supplies with the quietest thud he had ever heard.

Isaac returns to his old neighborhood after ten years of medical help for his "tendency to hallucinate" and "ramblings of another world in his basement". Isaac and friends know better though... what happened all those times in the basement was too real to have been a hallucination, and they can't have all hallucinated the exact same events. In high school now, they'll have to go into the basement many more times... and with a control officer breathing down Isaac's neck, they have to do it without getting caught.
