“I can’t save anyone. I was destined to protect the Earth but I fail each time”, Subaru murmured through tears and hid face into Seishirou’s shoulder. He was instantly embraced and brought closer; intimacy brought comfort but dozen more predicaments as well.
“There you go again, blaming yourself for things outside your control”, Seishirou hushed softly but tone still came off as condescending.
For some unfathomable reason he felt like he shouldn’t let this Seishirou be aware how much he means to him. Thousand and one chances for confessing feelings since he realized them that night in hospital but he seized none. Lifetime ago Subaru would have been worried about rejection or being too awkward when confessing. Now apprehension sourced out of intangible place. Maybe he’s better off keeping those life-altering three words to himself.
