"The only thing he found himself focused on was the smell of his best friend. It was one of those smells you couldn’t really explain because it was so unique on its own that you knew it was just the smell of them and nothing else. It was *Remer’s* smell. Cooper found himself stuck on it, now sniffling not because of his runny nose but because he wanted to inhale the scent. He wanted to grab onto the smell and huff it like a teenager huffing glue. He leaned into Remer more trying to get more of whatever it was, because it was grounding him and it made him feel good. Like he just smoked weed or did some other form of feel good drugs, except this drug was his and his only. This drug had been friends with him since they were 4 years old and helped him when he was 12 and his parents were divorcing and he didn’t know what else to do. This drug he knew better than anyone else and this drug knew him just as well. Yet somehow he never realized how good this drug made him feel, and now that he knows he wants to be high on it forever."
