In this, the final part to this series :
Physically, Danny's free and clear of Delano, who is in jail, and Wo Fat, who is also in jail.
Mentally, though...the news is less than good.
He's always had problems with anxiety. For all that he's good under pressure, once the pressure is gone, Danny's left adrift in a lake filled with both big and small sanity-eating Anguish Fish.If the aftermath of the different levels of violation he suffered at Delano's hands isn't enough, it's the little things that are pushing him towards the bottom of a downward spiral. Doris being shady, Lori flirting, Steve taking risks, Rachel throwing unexpected news at him...
Let's just say, Danny's getting so bombarded on all sides by Anguish Fish, he's starting to drown.

A lovely series in which Danny comes in one day to find Steve dead of radiation, tips into a pit of grieving, and then a few days later, wakes up 12 years in the past.
Steve, who is no dummy, figures out pretty quickly that there's something going on, and the first case they have where Danny knows more than he should (because he remembers), Steve gets told about it... although Danny puts it in the form of him having had a very long and detailed dream. Luckily, this is Hawaii, and people are pretty spiritual, and it seems reasonable to Steve (and eventually Kono and Chin). Steve also figures out pretty quickly that there's potential between him and Danny, and forges forward and DAMN, this Steve is hot and confident and a little Dommy so yum.
Danny's very happy at his second chance, but he doesn't know how long it will last, or how much he'll be changing the future (if he's will Steve, will Charlie ever be born?) and his anxiety starts getting the better of him.
Sooo much communication in this story, with Steve demanding that they talk everything out so there's no confusion. Steve is less like the isolated, lonely, risk-taking, one-man army who leaps and doesn't look in this time-line, which leaves Danny reeling, because these changes are due to the fact that he has Danny, who freely admits that he loves him...
The final part has Danny kidnapped and sexually violated (via photos when he's unconscious, not rape) and he and Steve have to work through that, as well as all the other secrets Danny's keeping as he struggles to figure out when and what to reveal (like Doris, like Wo Fat).

Summary
Steve's gone and Danny's grieving. It's not going well. He's not sure how to make it better. Not sure it'll ever get better. But he still has his job and his kids, so he can't give up. He's determined to pick himself up. Tomorrow.
Except tomorrow comes and, even though he made no wishes upon any stars, didn't pray to any Hawaiian gods or perform any voodoo magic, he's back at the beginning. Year 1. And Steve's still alive...
