In short summary, everything that happened was Anankos’s fault.
To take a longer look at the story though, perhaps it was her own fault. Or maybe Garon’s. Possibly the entire pantheon’s, simply for their refusal to look at any situation rationally.
Whosoever might have been originally at fault, that facts that remained were this. Corrin was stuck in an alternate dimension, and her only companions were an ornery sell-sword, who still wasn’t sure why he was here, a…ghost...of sorts, a young priest who was possibly inhaling narcotics every two minutes or so, and a dark magician who won’t let go of her arm.
What a merry band of travelers on their way to kill a god. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Absolutely nothing. No chance. Nope.

Summary
The night of Sumeragi's death, of Garon's official declaration of war against Hoshido, a child is stolen. For what reason, no one fully knows. The child is raised like any other in Castle Krakenburg, beginning life in the dim light of Nohr and being raised as a royal of the kingdom. Years pass in silence, battles fought and lost and won. Hoshido shields itself from Faceless as Mikoto's barrier protects them from full scale war, and Nohr begins to slip further and further into desolation as Garon is set on absolute destruction.
In the quiet capital of Hoshido, knelt down to meditate, Ryouma quietly asks when he could save his brother.

Summary
When Garon, Shanyu of the Nohrian Steppes receives one of his messages from the Earth Father during a ceremony, he decides it is at long last time to take his horde to war and add their ancient enemy of Hoshido to his growing empire. Made aware of this threat, Emperor Sumeragi decrees that one man from every family will be called upon to defend Hoshido from the invaders.
Fearing for the safety of her aging uncle, a young woman, a kindhearted misfit named Oboro disguises herself as a man and steals his spear and horse, intending to go to war in her uncle's stead, setting in motion an adventure which will go down in the annals of her country's legend.
