Summary
As a gunman for hire, Cougar was paid to do a lot of things. Keep his head down, keep his guns clean, and never ask questions. It was one simple job, shoot the Russian, because he was supposed to kill a Russian for some reason, and it should have been easy. He shot the Russian, damn good shot if he did say so himself, but he hadn't planned on getting shot, finding his soul mate, or getting plunged head first into the garish scheme of things that the Chinese had planned for the rest of the world.

Summary
Carlos wouldn't say that he has a habit of picking up his brother's drunk friends from parties, but whoever this Jake is really seems to need it. When Carlos eventually finds Jake — pale, shivering, and so painfully young and vulnerable — he feels he can't be blamed for wanting to take care of him.
What he doesn't expect is to find himself reluctantly attracted to the kid, but he does his best to ignore that. How hard can it be?

Summary
It makes sense for Cougar to measure time in "Before Jensen" and "During Jensen" considering how much his life has changed since he got to know him. Jensen has altered the way Cougar views the world, simply by existing. Sometimes, the changes are small but, other times, they leave Cougar reeling.
Like when he realizes that his feelings for Jensen aren't entirely platonic. Cougar has never been attracted to a man before, but it seems like Jensen might very well have changed that too, for better or worse.

Summary
Jensen has always been talkative, ever since he was a child. He likes to talk and does so, often and at length — to the frustration of many. Jensen doesn't expect that to change, until, suddenly, it does. He finds himself unable to speak. He finds that he can't, no matter how much he might want to.
Fortunately, Cougar seems determined to help him through it, even if it means he has to be the one to fill the silence between them. Jensen's inability to talk brings them closer in a way Jensen hadn't expected and he soon realizes he might be out of his depth.
There might be a thing or two about Cougar he should have noticed a long time ago.

Summary
Cougar never thought that he and Jensen would drift apart — the very idea seemed preposterous — but he had clearly underestimated what the passing of time could accomplish. Before he knows it, nine years have gone by, and he has started to forget what Jensen's smile looks like.
So, Cougar decides to visit. He knows that he can't expect things to be as they were nine years ago, but he can't help hoping that he'll at least get another chance to tell Jensen that he loves him.
Cougar is done living with regret.

There was definitely a pattern.
During the day, Cougar was distant, withdrawn and cool. While he hadn’t yet outright fled any room Jensen happened to be in, he was nowhere near as tactile as he usually was around Jensen, and a day could go by without them exchanging two words. Well, that wasn’t entirely accurate. Cougar was talking even less than usual and Jensen was picking up the slack, filling the increasingly strained silences with ever more inane blathering. Aisha was starting to look like she might take a leaf out of Roque’s book, the way she kept fondling her knives.
Yet every night, without fail, would find Cougar on Jensen’s floor, his hold on Jensen’s wrist unrelenting.

When Jensen gets hurt on a mission, Cougar starts acting oddly. Now if only Jensen could figure out why...
