Summary
Looking at Ren's back, as he'd always done since they met, he almost had an urge to make himself believe that this was it. Maybe the whole world finished outside the doorstep and the universe comprised only the two of them. Leaning on the shoddy counter in Leblanc, evenings spent talking in allegories and tiptoeing around the point. They both always knew anyway, knew that the other knew. Maybe there needn't be anything else. Maybe the flow of time would take mercy on him, maybe another hour would appear between eleven and midnight just for them to share.
Goro and Ren have a chat and share some very very fancy coffee from Leblanc's very very fancy supply. In a perfect reality Sojiro wouldn't get mad about it after all. Maybe.

Loki flares above them both, flashing with the magic of a curse spell. Without Ren needing to ask, Arsene stands between him and Loki. He takes the brunt of the attack, barely staggering from the impact. Arsene counters, and when Ren tries to call him off, he doesn't stop. He leaps forward, so he and Loki are almost face to face.
And then, Loki grabs Arsene, holds him by the arms, and pins him down. He takes those sharp claws and digs them into Arsene's arms, before he uses those fearsome teeth to bite his neck.
Arsene... arches into it?
When Akechi invites Ren into Mementos he thinks it's for a rematch, but Loki and Arsene have other plans.

Goddamnit. Why him? Why now? Please, I can’t. I can’t do this right now.The black-haired boy stared right back at the detective. There must have been multiple emotions swirling around in his eyes, all of them as complicated and convoluted as the teenager before him.
Akechi broke eye contact first, turning towards Maruki with an unpleasant look.
