Summary: Due to depleted demonic power, V's body reaches the point of disintegration before getting close to Urizen. Fortunately, another Sparda's kin is right here with him. Still, there has to be some serious persuasion for getting Nero to do what V needs him to do.
Warning: Reluctant con - Nero/V. Non-con - Urizen/V. V starts with Vergil's memory and self-identification as in the canon but (spoiler alert) acquires an individual personality in the end.
This V cites William Blake a bit more frequently than in the canon, gaining some strength as the game mechanism indicates, and here especially as a form of euphemism when he feels embarrassed or pained by what he has to say. In contrast, the quotes in Italic are not expressed by any of the characters, they are just there for the style. ;-)
All quotations are from W. B. and stay in English (because of the laziness of the writer).

One of my favorite series of all time, really sparked my love of crossovers and made me realize the sorts of things that are possible with them!!! I initially read this as the last two entries were coming out and have returned to it many, many times since :]

I am. positively in love with this series. nier has always been a series that's inspired a lot of emotion in me, and seeing that combined with dmc was instantly intriguing. and the fact that it's a wild crossover done so incredibly artfully just leaves me in awe. v's, 9S', and fern's journeys in this series are so amazingly handled. and I had NO IDEA how it would end in the best possible way, so seeing them each get their happy ending in that epilogue was really emotional. I nearly cried.
