Summary
The toons of Dandy’s World have found themselves in the backrooms; a strange place of maze like hallways, unsettling liminal spaces, horrible monstrosities, and a seemingly endless amount of levels. They must find their way out of this nightmareish place without getting caught by an entity or succumbing to the mental strains. How long will they be able to survive? How much can they take before it’s too much? How long will they need to wander before they can find the way out? Is there even a way out?
Memento Mori is a Dandy’s World and Backrooms fan fiction/au. Most of the Backrooms levels, entities, and phenomena are from the Backrooms wiki. There are a few aspects that are based on the game Backrooms: Generation Error on Roblox. Since this is an au some things have been changed and are not cannon, such as most level entrances and exits.
This au was written shortly after the Dandy’s World 2025 Halloween update, any toons added after that point will not show up. Additionally, the event toons have not been included because that would’ve been too many characters to keep track of.
This will update every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Summary
Vee likes to think she’s a lot harder to bug than she actually is.
But as time goes on in the abandoned Gardenview Centre, where the Toons have been left to fend for themselves and have to resort to exploring the lower floors of the building for supplies, Vee finds herself irked.
She hasn’t let those snide comments about her stealthiness or her ability to run away go unnoticed.
With a little help from good ol’ Dandy, Vee sets out on a little ‘training session’, to try and improve herself- to be able to run.
What happens when she runs into more than a few problems on her way, though? Problems that are a little too big to ignore?

She saw the surroundings get clearer and realize she was in the dining room. Colours mixed together and were blurry for a moment, before slowly becoming solid but vivid, The thing was no longer touching or pulling at her but the slimy residue remained on her skin. The slime dripped slowly down her body and it only fueled her disgustment and the stains she would feel later on.

Ichor does weird things to living beings who are exposed to it for a long period of time. It messes with their mind, screws up their morals, and makes emotions so much more intense. Dandy was no different.
Vee just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time, when nostalgia and longing plagued her mind. She wasn’t the only one, as Dandy held the same feeling. The two stars longed for each other and the peace they once shared. The care they once held.
Dandy, however, made a promise he couldn’t keep. From then, things took a weird route.

A "Cold Run" or "Cold Start" is a term in engineering where a machine is powered on after a substantial period of time has passed since it's last power-on. Sudden temperature changes can warp metal, crack solder joints, or stress internal components—especially if the machine was stored in cold environments.

Vee's always been well established throughout her environment. She's confident enough to stand out, but not quite confident enough to fit in. The thought of ignoring it proves to be a trap, feeding into her narrative of worthlessness and lack of purpose while making socializing and day-to-day routine a living hell. Navigating it won't be an easy task, but at least she has some support along the way.

Vee had a critical error, causing her to go into maintenance, During this Delilah decided to take this oppertunity to test out a smaller upgrade, Vee version 1.5.
The upgrade Includes smoother operation, higher resolution screen, and a whole new set of glitches and errors that she's never had to worry about before, including sudden gaps in her usually perfect memory. Vee never wanted to be upgraded in the first place, and now things weren't the same. It's safe to say she really isn't happy about it.Anyway! Hihi, this is my first fic in a million years!
