It was like a record scratch. Percy grimaced and straightened, she was back from La La land. That just gave her the biggest ick.
Zoe picked up a Ping-Pong paddle and studied it like she was deciding who she wanted to hit first. "This monster--the bane of Olympus. I have hunted at Lady Artemis' side for many years, yet I have no idea what this beast might be..." she trailed off looking at Percy for just a moment before looking at Dionysus along with everyone else.
He was flipping through a wine magazine, but when everyone got silent he glanced up. He sighed in annoyance before glancing at Percy, "What is the use of you if you can't answer questions in my place," he grumped and Percy glowered. "Well, don't look at me," he grunted at the rest who looked perplexed at the exchange. "I'm a young god, remember? I don't keep track of all those ancient monsters and dusty titans. They make for terrible conversation--ask her, I am clearly under-qualified," he pointed at Percy before looking back down at his magazine.
Everyone looked at her and Percy groaned in dread, "I hate you."
"You'll get over it."
Percy shrunk slightly under Zoe and Thalia's probing stare, "What? Don't look at me," she pointedly turned to Chiron. "Do you have any ideas about the monster, Mr. Over-Several-Millennia-Year-Old?"

A harsh glow of neon reflected on the wet stone of the steps. The circular image of the neon portal took up a large portion of his view. It held an eerily similar feel to the plant floating right behind him, hiding like a small child.
Alfred looked at an older woman with reddish-gray hair and wrinkles lining her face, showing her well-lived life. He noted more evidence of worry wrinkles than laugh lines. The sharp teal eyes took him in, calculating. She was tall, standing eye level with him, and dry as if she never touched the pouring rain. By the portal behind her, this was a reasonable assumption.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The vines were starting to circle around the partly open door. Alfred let him.
The woman seemed to be jolted out of her perusal with that greeting. She gave a sheepish smile.
"This may sound strange, but have you perhaps seen my brother? Blue? Leafy?" There was a knowing look in her eye.
The vines stopped at that.
Alfred stroked the plant, noting the now limp leaves and grounded pot. Gently, he reached down and plucked him into his hold.
