Stiles got together a new pack, woke up Peter, and basically dealt with everything and everyone before they could become problems. Scott doesn't actually factor much into this. I mean, he's not a great friend (still), but he's like the angry child without much of a real thing to do.

He is done being lonely, frightened, constantly on the lookout for evidence that he wasn't himself anymore. He steals a gun and drugs and as he is in the process of taking his life, he is stopped and a new life is given to him. The least likely person he would ever think would help someone saves him and gives him a reason to live.
