Summary
I've been working on this for a while, but between my days of recovery fic last month and some bad news I got this morning, I just want to post it, leave it where it is and focus on other stories that interest me. I'm going to make it a small series as while most of what I've written is post season 2 there's some bits for season 3 and 4 written too which I'm adding as oneshots.

Summary
Steve is having a hard time adjusting to the new normal, after everything that went down. He doesn't want to bother his friends with his problems, though, when they've got so much weight on their shoulders already.
Steve stumbles on an alternate version of Hawkins, where none of it ever happened. Everyone’s alive, his headaches are gone, his friends actually want to hang out with him, and he’s… happy.
(The party has to fight another monster. But this one doesn't prey on people's fears. It preys on their deepest desires.)

And he's spent years working very hard to keep it that way, because the truth is the last thing he is, is normal.
No, Steve Harrington has a dark past he's desperate to escape, however that gets much harder when Will Byers goes missing and Steve just can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong in Hawkins, something that's pointing straight to his past. But everything will be fine, right? All he has to do is pretend everything is normal.
Or, another lab experiment Steve story because I can’t get it out of my head, so I’m sharing it with everyone.
