It took significantly longer for his heart to understand the same thing, and it hammered against his chest with a rapid rhythm. “Such a brave boy.” She looked up at Aang again and added, somewhat shyly, “You’re very brave, too.”
“Oh, I—thank you. So are you.”
He had no idea why he’d said that.

Half a second later, a blush crept across her face and down her chest, something hot and vulgar coiling low in her abdomen.
The image of a male torso occupied one side of the screen. It stretched from the delicious V of the pelvis to sculpted abdominals and a broad chest, drenched and glistening in a way that looked obscenely appetizing.
Then came the arms, folded behind his head, tattoo lines disappearing toward the biceps. The picture cut off at the mouth, frozen in either a gasp or a moan. Katara wasn’t sure which she preferred.
The text next to it read, in bold yet flowy letters:The Avatar: social companionship, emotional support, and physical services.

“You said that earlier,” he says flatly. And she did: it’s one of the first things she said to him after their bone-crushing reunion hug, her voice sounding breathless and disbelieving to her own ears as she had looked him up and down. Aang had rubbed his neck and preened shyly, You think so?
But now he’s not preening; now that statement seems to be the source of everything that’s wrong with the world. Aang says, “I thought you were just pointing out the obvious. Do you mean things are different? Like between us?”
