Hiraeth: The feeling of homesickness for a home you can never return to, or never existed.
You were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. You weren't supposed to see a figure hunched over a body, picking away at the corpse. No matter how hard you try, you cannot get that soulless blue mask out of your mind. With its head turned towards you, it only held its boney finger to its mask in a hushed manner before it ran off. You knew you had to keep quiet, but was it really the right choice?

“What?” you snap out. “A divorce?” You scoff, shaking your head at him. “No, what I want is a husband that will actually come home and raise his kid like he promised. But instead I have someone who follows us around on rooftops and lurks in the shadows thinking he’s some silent protector and not a fucking deadbeat. So yeah, I’ll settle for a divorce. It’s the next best thing I have.”

Your husband left you before he could fuck things up. Too bad he still is when he appears in your life several years later, on the advent of your move from Gotham, and asks to meet his daughter. The past is a hard pill to swallow, but Josie deserves a dad. You just have to make sure you don't pussy out of seeing Jason again. Or, at least, that you don't kill each other.

Summary
You flipped on the living room light and froze.
Standing out on the fire escape was Nightwing. He had Jay's arm draped over his shoulder, with his own arm around Jay's torso and clearly holding him up. It was an unexpected sight on its own, but not nearly as unexpected as the fact that you could see a bloodstain on Jay's side even from here.
You darted across the room and yanked open the sliding door. "What the hell happened to you this time?" you demanded.
