“Leaving? What do you mean?” He rubbed his jaw with his hand, trying to wake up. “When will you be back?”
“You’re not getting it, Finn. I’m leaving.” She inhaled the familiar scent of the stable, wishing what she was saying wasn’t true. “I’m leaving...for good.”
Rey watched as her best friend’s shoulders drew back, straightening his spine as he did. A bitter reality was sinking in before the rooster had even crowed. Finn was her protector, her keeper, her friend. If she left him, she would be lost in the world.
“You can’t...you need to stay here!” he blurted out as the words Rey spoke finally woke him up.
“The princess has been betrothed, and I am to go with her to her new home.” A sob escaped from deep within. “I can’t let them find out about me!”

But here she is- dragged back to Chandrila to be the bodyguard of Senator Ben Solo... who happens to be her childhood friend turned bad boy, and is constantly shooting daggers at her one second and puppy eyes the next. Seems like relying on The Jedi Code might be a bit of a conundrum.

Rey turns around again, starting to descend the steps, leaving him alone in the temple. ‘You can’t be here. Go back to your sycophants.’
He stands up abruptly and she flinches, shying away. ‘Have we really regressed back to being enemies now? After all this time?’ He motions between them, to the ephemeral, unbreakable bond.
Rey faces him, her hazel eyes so full of sorrow; it pierces straight to the core of him, an arrow to the heart. ‘You made your choices. You chose the Dark, Ben. You chose to kill the rebels rather than help them. There’s nothing I can do to help you anymore. So yes, you’re my enemy. And you need to leave.’ She turns away again, starting down the flight of steps that lead away from the cliff. The water in the pool undulates as her footsteps peter out, and Kylo stares into the pool, at his reflection, the scarred, damaged face that doesn’t even come close to portraying the conflict within. The face of the First Order. He hates it more than he ever has.

She worked on the broken saber day and night, hoping it could be salvaged and wishing desperately that by fixing its smashed up parts, she could also be restored to her former ignorant self. When everything was simpler and less complicated and she didn’t have any knowledge of the man with a heart full of darkness but eyes full of longing.
