Wait, but still, what the hell?!
Steve looks over at her expectantly. As if the man didn't just ask a question so out of left field that Robin's not even sure they're playing metaphorical baseball anymore.
"Steve?"
"Robin?"
Her eyes beg for extra context that he decidedly isn't giving. Robin relents. "Platonic love of my life, pray tell, what the fuck are you talking about?"

Summary
“Do you ever feel like…if you had just done one thing differently that your life could have gone some other way?”
Time travel doesn’t exist. If it did, Steve would have already gone back and stopped himself from fucking up his chances with Eddie forever. But it doesn’t, so Steve just gets to watch as everyone he loves gets the future of their dreams, rockstar Eddie Munson included, while he’s stuck managing Family Video.
Dustin believes time travel is just another science the world hasn’t perfected yet. He tells Steve that he’s found a way to fix everything. A way to send him back to 1987, to fix what he did before he ever even does it (because Steve still won’t tell him what happened), and the crazy thing is? It actually works!
But now Steve’s trapped in the past. And if he doesn’t want to ruin everyone else’s destinies—even if his own sucks—he has to do everything exactly the way it happened back then.
Unfortunately, he *really* doesn’t want to break Eddie’s heart again.

Summary
Steve had a bad feeling, and this wasn't the first time it had happened.
For as long as he could remember, he had always had hunches. Hunches about events that hadn't even happened yet but warned him before the shoe could drop. He was used to them. To the bad omens. To the anxiety they brought.
Maybe, that's why he was as tense as a coiled spring when they entered Hawkins Lab, as gray as decayed as the rest of the Upside Down. But not even a hunch could have prepared him for what happened that day. He couldn't have braced himself for the party splitting up. He couldn't have braced himself for an argument with Dustin, much less the boy's violent reaction at him bringing Eddie into the conversation.
He couldn't have expected to crack his head open into the ground, nor the world that waited for him when he opened his eyes once again. Neither the spider that bit him, or the powers that would later bring him.
And when this peculiar world welcomed him, he couldn't help but wonder.
Was that Munson? In a big sign? Wearing a hero-like costume?
And why on Earth was he blond?
