Summary
Satoru would know that voice anywhere. He could pick it out among a thousand others, even if Suguru wasn’t shouting over the gasps of the crowd. Cursing over the gasps of the crowd, actually.
It’s a break with etiquette that’s entirely out of character for Suguru. On any other occasion, Satoru might find it funny. Maybe they can laugh about it later; he’ll pull up the replay and watch Suguru turn tomato red at the sound of himself swearing like a sailor on live TV in front of the whole wide world.
He isn’t the only one swearing. All around him, voices rise in outrage at what is the most egregious case of underscoring Satoru has ever seen at an Olympic halfpipe final.
After he crashes out of the pipe four weeks before the Winter Olympics, Satoru finds himself pushing the limits of his body like never before. If he wants to defend his title, he'll have to soar to yet greater heights — but will he fly or will he fall?

He trailed off, reluctant to follow a train of thought that would forever lead to a dead end. Pointless, grieving something that could never come to pass. Not in this life. Not in these bodies.

They fall into an uneasy silence, broken by the excited ripple that goes up as the celebrant makes her way down the aisle. That means Satoru and Shōko are together by now. First look for one another’s eyes only, whispering confessions somewhere no one else can hear them. Secrets that even Suguru doesn’t know.
‘You should stop fucking them,’ Yuki finally murmurs. ‘Marriage changes everything.’ Now, as the moment approaches, her voice has taken on an uncharacteristic gentleness. ‘He’ll never choose you, Suguru.’
‘I know that.’ It’s a bitter pill to swallow. Marriage changes everything. ‘What I’m saying is, I think it’s over.’
For Suguru, attending his best friend's wedding is the cruelest twist of the knife in a wound that just won’t close. Then he discovers there are yet deeper ways to hurt.

Megumi had made contact with the warm skin of the human, Gojō Satoru, more times than he could count. The strongest sorcerer let his technique fall away as easily as he breathed, and yet that immeasurable distance between them persisted.
What they had was always more or less than, somehow. It occupied that vague space between things you could put a name to and things you couldn’t. What did you call someone who was more than a guardian but less than family? Someone who was more than a benefactor but less than a saviour?
