    Summary

The impact seems to reverberate through Ilya’s bones, but the pain doesn’t register as adrenaline coursing through him. There’s a collective gasp of shock from the crowd, but Hollander looks more surprised than anyone that he’s just punched Ilya in the face.

“What the fuck, Hollander?” Ilya snarls, grabbing the front of Hollander’s jersey and dragging him in.

“I don’t—” A look of horror is spreading over his features as he blinks at Ilya.

“Fuck you!” Ilya snaps, shoving Hollander in the chest, and Hollander doesn’t come at him again.

or: when Ilya runs his mouth on the ice about Rose, he hits a nerve that has Shane crossing a line neither one of them has ever crossed. Can they get past it?

    Summary

Trinity takes a deep breath, steeling herself. “I was wondering whether I could switch to working night shifts. All the time.”

Abbot raises his eyebrows, not actually looking that surprised. “May I ask what brought this on?”

“Just…” avoiding my ex-not-even-girlfriend? Probably not the best thing to say. “Just looking for a new experience. I feel like I could learn a lot from working nights.”

He stares at her for a moment. It’s a little unnerving, and Trinity feels her back straighten instinctively. Then he smiles, clapping his hands together.

    “About time.”

    Summary

Abbot finds Trinity about an hour later while she’s still working on those charts. She’s getting a lot closer to the end of her pile. Honestly standing up and helping with the trauma patient had done a lot, it had gotten her moving again, which was exactly what her brain had needed. Anyways, Abbot was leaning over the counter above the station that Trinity had taken over all those hours ago during the end of her shift. “Are you a night person?” He asked, flipping what looked to be his own charts.

“Not particularly. I’ve always been up with the sun. It’s calming.” Trinity responded, looking up to look at Abbot. “Why?”

“Just was wondering if I could poach you now that Robby’s gone.” He murmurs, like he didn’t just drop a bomb on Trinity’s psyche.

    OR

Trinity Santos uses her destructive coping mechanism and somehow finds herself in a healthier environment.

“If you’re involved with someone in the department, I need to know.” The attending physician’s voice is seemingly detached but her eyes give her away.

Trinity’s eyes widen just a fraction as she stares at the woman in front of her.

But Baran is pointedly avoiding her eyes now, looking at the R2’s shoulder, her own shoulders tense, her posture stiff and her jaw locked.

    Summary

“Call a therapist”. The precision of the cut Yolanda absolutely meant to make but surely didn’t aim for such depth – was another thing to think right after the memory of Langdon’s voice daring to utter; “I’d be happy to teach Dr. Santos” and Garcia not even blinking when –

Picking up the phone and saying, “No”, when Yolanda asked to swing by for the evening; was the easiest thing Trinity had done all week.

But following up with, “I think we’re done”, had choked the oxygen out.

She didn’t catch the flutter of Yolanda’s breathing; too busy trying to fight her way out the window to sit on the hot metal of the fire escape and try to suck in a clear inhale. She did catch the precise delivery of a “cool, thanks for the heads up”, before Garcia hanged up the phone.

    Or

Trinity never expected her apartment to have a steady, rotating population of med students.
