Summary
after a hunt gone wrong, arthur and merlin find themselves stranded in some of the more unfavorable parts of essetir. disguising arthur as a commoner, merlin and arthur have to lay low and find their way back to camelot without cenred knowing they’re in his kingdom.
only weeks after arthur stumbled upon merlin’s magic, things are tense between the two, despite the danger they’re in. arthur, struggling to align what he’s been taught about magic with who merlin is, can do the only thing he knows to do: close himself off.
though after a strange encounter he witnesses between merlin and the tavern owner that hides them from cenred’s men, arthur is unable to keep his questions to himself any longer. the answers he gets rewrite everything he has ever known about magic, and about those who live with it.

Summary
The problem with Merlin is that he doesn’t say nearly enough for all the talking he does. Honestly, the man can ramble on for hours and hours without being interrupted and never say one word about himself. He’s spoken about how Arthur sits wrong for longer than a council meeting for goodness’ sake. And yet in all that time, he’s never said a single thing about himself.
It would be impressive if it didn’t get them into nearly so many stressful situations that could’ve been avoided had he asked for help.

He woke up this morning with too much on his mind, thoughts racing nonstop. It felt like he was running a marathon in his head until the afternoon, when a knock sounded at his door. He sighed, rolled out of bed, and padded over to the door, surprised to find Derek standing there with a cake in his hands.
“Um,” the werewolf said, eyes fixed on the ceiling, burning holes into it, while he lifted the ice cream cake toward him. “I know you like the chocolate fudge in the middle of the cake, so I got this for you,” he explained, his eye twitching as Stiles stepped forward.
“How do you know that?” Stiles asked suspiciously, taking the cake from Derek’s hands and blowing out the single candle in the middle.

Summary
By day, he's Merlin Emrys, clumsy best friend and terrible personal assistant of the deputy mayor of Camelot. By night (and sometimes day, let's be honest, sometimes crime happens during the day), he's The Warlock, a superhero with an unfortunate moniker (really, thanks for that, Lance) fighting to keep Camelot and her people safe, one thwarted back alley mugging at a time. Juggling all three jobs is difficult, but he gets by just fine.
Until crime hits a little too close to home and he loses his shit.
