"So do you think you're going to settle as a snake then?" Livia, Drake's american robin (foraging bird, flocked in large groups at night for safety) dæmon asked Nyx. "I mean, I've never seen you in a different form."
Damian ignored the exchange as was customary and let Nyx (currently a Sri Lankan green vine snake) answer, too busy sewing up an annoying rip on his cape (Joan had given them both a disapproving look when she realised Damian had expected her person to fix it)
"It's just comfortable." Nyx shrugged as well as a snake could, pealing upwards slightly from where she was loosely draped around his shoulders. "Did you ever have a form like that? Before you settled I mean."
"I liked birds, I guess?" Livia answered slowly. "But not to the extreme that you like snakes."
"There are like a million different snakes, why would I choose anything different?"
"You're always around his neck, or on his wrist. I've never even seen you travel by his side. Nyx... What do you think is going to happen after you settle?"
"I'm not sure I understand what you mean."

It was amazing, really, that Bradley had once known how to read Jake Seresin and his daemon better than almost anyone.
