It wasn't supposed to go like this.
Steve was supposed to work with Robin at the Family Video, flirt with the many many girls who came to browse the expansive selection of VHSes, go on some dates, and hopefully find The One.
It was supposed to be a notably upside-down free year.

Derek knows what it feels like to not really have a choice, what it's like to be manipulated. He'd never take away someone's right to choose freely. The fear of even accidentally doing so is enough to hold him back from acting on his own feelings.
Stiles has never had a problem making his own choices, and fuck anyone who would try to tell him he can't.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Steve leans over and snags the flannel Eddie had been wearing out from behind him, shrugging it on quickly before Eddie realizes what he’s doing.
Annoyingly enough, it takes several minutes for Eddie to notice.
“No, not the flannel,” Eddie warns when he finally glances over, closing his notebook slowly and putting it to the side. “You’re holding half my wardrobe hostage already!”
Steve snickers, standing up and backing away a few feet.
“I guess you’re just going to have to come get it, then.”
(Or: 5 times Steve steals Eddie's clothes, and one time Eddie returns the favor.)

Boyd is there, hovering over his claws, Isaac looks devastated, Jennifer looks bewildered and concerned and horrified, Kali looks smug, the twins are carefully keeping their faces blank but they're playing along, and- Gods, he's really going to be forced to do this, isn't he? Pack, his Pack, the make-shift family he'd all but accidentally gathered is going to die by his hand, and even if it's forced, it'll still be his fault, for wanting them, for needing them, for biting them.
Loving them.
He wants to close his eyes but he owes Boyd more than that.
And then, abruptly, in this saturated technicolor still-picture moment of chaos and violence- the eye of the storm- the door to the loft crashes open. With the water and the metal and the force of it, the sound is almost guttural, and far too loud- even Kali seems startled.

“Hmm, um…” Harry takes a deep breath and then he looks into Louis’ eyes. Louis’ breath falters on the way up his throat. Harry’s eyes that were a murky green just moments ago now glimmer emerald and Louis can’t look away. “I promise I’ll explain everything just… just tell me if you feel this too or if… is this just… do you feel this?”
The heat of the water makes his skin smart, but he lowers himself down below the surface anyway, allowing the sounds to dull in his ears and the light to break through the water. He stares up at the ceiling, eyes burning as he refuses to shut them, just lets himself linger there for a few precious moments. Then he tilts his head up until his face breaks the surface—the rest of him still submerged.This is the only place that even comes close to the weightlessness of them. The only place that makes it possible for him to recall even just a caress of what utter elation used to feel like.

This was it, the moment Louis had been waiting for his entire life. Giddy excitement bubbled up as he held hands and stared up at his soon-to-be alpha and husband and grinned. The ceremony was small and simple, but Louis didn’t mind. Fresh flowers pinned into his hair and a brand new outfit was all he needed to feel special in front of their few witnesses. It was just some members of his family and a few of the church elders in attendance as was customary for any marriage beyond the first wife within the faith.
First wives were the ones to have elaborate weddings with the whole community involved. An alpha’s first wedding was a celebration of an their coming of age, his first steps into fulfilling God’s prophecy. There were many glories for an omega that came with being a first wife but also many responsibilities. Louis had never aspired to be a first wife or even a second. He wasn’t experienced enough to be the leader of an alpha’s many wives and children and he didn’t think he’d be up to the task.
Louis was just fine in the position he was stepping into as the seventh.
Or Louis thinks he's getting everything he's ever dreamed of. Harry helps him find what makes him truly happy.
